San Fran money manager Empower Finance lands $20m Series A

Empower Finance, a San Francisco-founded money management app, has closed a $20 million Series A funding round. The fintech secured its funding from new investors including California’s Icon Ventures and Defy Ventures, as well as Nubank’s CEO David Velez. Existing investors Sequoia Capital and Initialized Capital also joined this round. Headed up by former Sequoia Capital partner Warren Hogarth, Empower is a budgeting app which offers users automatic saving, categorised spending histories, spending limits, weekly budget alerts, and interest rate checking.
