Fukui migrates to IBM Cloud to meet digital banking demands

In response to increasing customer expectations for digital banking services, Fukui Bank will migrate its distributed processing system to IBM Cloud, reports Jane Connolly.

The Japan-based bank aims to drive operational transformation, create a more flexible IT environment, bolster operational security, enhance its initiative to support local community development and be able to respond more quickly to the demand for more personalised digital services.

Fukui Bank will use IBM Cloud Migration Factory to take a multi-pronged approach to re-host, re-platform, re-architect and modernise its infrastructure, while reducing migration costs and time with the help of automation and other tools.

The use of IBM Cloud for VMware Solutions allows Fukui Bank to quickly migrate to the cloud without having to change its existing processes, but retaining the same level of control, security and features.

It will be possible for the bank to make future cloud usage easier, by building a completely native next-generation virtual infrastructure environment on IBM Cloud. Operation on IBM Cloud will begin in the first half of this year.

The news follows the recent announcement that French online banking, brokerage and financial information company Boursorama, a subsidiary of Societe Generale, has signed a five-year hybrid cloud contract with IBM.

Boursorama chose to extend its original 2014 infrastructure agreement with IBM and is now able to use IBM Cloud for its banking business, to help offer new products and services.
